Brass Fish With Veggies

$100 SOLD
6x6" acrylic on masonite

I polished up this old brass fish plate and dropped a few veggies in. I didn't want to spend too much time on the detailed carvings in the plate and I think this is close enough. Of course you  haven't seen the plate so you don't know how detailed it is anyway .. I like the way the veggies came out. Real casual.

FIRST LIGHT

Acrylic on canvas 30x22"
contact  http://www.riverseagallery.com/  to purchase
So I had the urge to paint something larger with the knife and was itching to do another coastal scene. I try to stay away from the cliche' sort of stuff.... lighthouses, seagulls drifting over the surf..and one local landmark in particular because it has been sooo over done.... Haystack Rock (see below). It is probably the most photographed and painted subject on the entire Oregon coast where I was born. It is just about 6 miles away from our home and although people pay money for anything with its image on it I can't bring myself to paint it for that very reason.

So instead I painted one of the most photographed and painted subjects on the coast of Nova Scotia where my dad was born...Peggy's Cove. Go figure!

Blackberry Delight

No painting today.........It was one of the only sunny days we've had this summer so I layed around outside and  played the bum...well...that's what I do best actually. This is a good time to post this little painting from a while back. It needs some exposure.
this is acrylic on canvas about 14x14"

Little Brown Nuthatch

$100

These little guys are always around our place. Very friendly ..very busy.
They peck holes in my garage door though. When I hear them out there pecking I run out to tell them to cut it out but they usually just look at me like  'What'?!

TEA TIME sold

Acrylic on Masonite 6"x8"

This looks a little traditional for me with the white table cloth and nice cup. I liked the colors and wanted to try to get the reflective quality.

FANCY PANTS

                                    Acrylic on Masonite 6"x8"

I was riding the Washington sate ferry last week taking pictures of strangers hoping to get something good for a painting when I saw this gal. Bright orange shirt and I don't know what the pattern is on her pants but....wow!

Hen House

                                  6"x6" acrylic on wood panel
                                   SOLD
This is the same hen as below in a different pose. I like the warm tones here.
My old Grandmother was a collector of all things chickenish (is that a word?)
She had chicken pictures, chicken plates ,chicken cups, little ceramic chickens, chickens on her apron....in fact... she sorta looked like a hen with glasses...same little beak of a nose...round body ...skinny legs... in a good way though. Sorry Gramma!

Apple A Day

6"x6' acrylic on masonite panel

I like the strong contrast of the dark background in these little daily paintings.
I've been doing them on Masonite and kind of enjoy painting over the smooth texture. I usually paint on canvas or linen but on these small pieces I think I like the smooth primed panel.

Little Red Hen

 6x6 acrylic on Masonite board....$100

I like chickens. I don't feel like I'm in over my head when talking with them. This one and the next are in a sort of 'old masters' format.Warm colors...simple common theme.

Sliced Oranges

Acrylic on linen.30x22. It may appear, after the last couple of sunsets, that I had a lot of blue and orange paint to use up. Not really...I just like the contrasting colors. This is one done just with a knife. Lots of texture.
